Patsy Flood England, Sharon Crabb Richardson, Terry Granger, Sharon Albee Dumont
But first, can we talk?
We would like to locate some more sponsors for this great event. You too, can have your business card and/or logo displayed on our first class web-site. If you or someone you know would like to be one of our sponsors please contact Bob Mascarello at 303-431-9038 or at: rmascarello@merchantsmetals.com.
Lloyd Volgamore would like to get some more pictures of people, places and things. If you don't want to send current pictures then send pictures from the sixties or whatever. If you have a scanner just scan them and e-mail them to lvolgamore@aol.com.
If you don't have a scanner drop down to Kinko's (10 machines, no waiting) and copy them then send them by snail mail to:
Volgamore, Loyd
4270 Garland
Wheat Ridge CO 80033
We've got around 116 people coming so far, but we want more, so we are extending the registration time to June 20th. Don't forget to send your remittance, like they say, "at the bakery we knead that dough."
Speaking of checks - - -Check out the web-site; look at the pictures; look at the missing classmate section; find one; have them contact us, the more the merrier.
Reports from Committees:
Karen McManus Brown, treasurer, reported the following:
Response Totals So Far
Dinner/Picnic 80
Dinner Only 18

Total for Dinner 104
Picnic Only 8

Total for Picnic 94
Memory Books Only 12

Total memory books 116
After discussion, it was agreed to extend the reservation period to June 20. All information must be into Joyce Breheny by June 30 to be in the Memory Book. Bob Potter will add the extended date to the Web site and Ted Grundmeier will e-mail all others. It is assumed that many will sign up but just be later than the first date, most likely before the new deadline.
Patsy Flood England, the restaurant booker, will contact Lakewood Country Club to book a smaller, but very nice room with a patio, as it looks like about 150 will be attending the dinner. The original room would have been too big for that number. She will also be working with the Club as time gets closer about the decorations that the Club is providing.
Dick Speer suggested that we have a contest to see who could find the most of the still missing grads. He passed out the Missing Graduates list with all the helpful hints he has located on his own to each person. Please, everyone on the team, try and locate at least 5 more apiece. Another 75 people! We currently have found 206 so far, 16 deceased and 190 who could attend. That's not bad after 40 years. Pete Norman (in California) and Dennis Edinger (from his bed) are both working to find more using their ham radios.
A big thanks to Pete Norman for the funnies he e-mails to keep the spirits up. Sure helps. Can't forget Ron Barnes's enthusiasm!
A discussion about keeping the Website until the 50th Reunion ensued with Bob Potter bringing up the good point of time it takes, need to make changes every so often or it is dropped, and costs could be incurred over the next 10 years. It was decided to keep it for as long as we can. Bob will put a link to Ted Grundmeier's e-mail for people to enter changes of addresses, names, and e-mail addresses. We can only hope everyone will remember to do so. Would sure help those working future reunions! Bob Potter said it would be good to have a couple of webmasters, but current technology allows one. Could add another later.
Terry Granger, entertainment committee, has the DJ lined up to play 50's and 60's music for around $150. He can also act as the announcer if necessary freeing up both Terry and Dick to have more fun.
Carol Meyers Walker spoke for herself and Bob Potter, the "Memory Board" committee, explaining how she designed it. Very nice!! The board will cost $30. Carol will be using pictures from the Annual.
Ted Grundmeier will keep the people on the found list that do not want to be called in the future. But to respect their wishes for the future, Ted will indicate such on the master list so we won't continue to bother them now or in future years.
Ted needs more forms from Carol for mailing to the ones we continue to find. She will get some to him.
We will end up with 3 lists after this is all over. It is important that all three match exactly. Ted handed out the most current list; however, he already had 2 or 3 more additions that were brought to him tonight. Ted asked for and everyone gave Bob Potter a big hand of applause for all the hard, great work he has done on the Web site.
Sharon Albee Dumont of the "find more people" committee has the original graduating class list with middle initials. Sharon will call Bob Averill back as he volunteered to take candid shots of people at the dinner and picnic.
Sharon needs more to do. She will help Joyce Breheny type up the data sent in from all the grads for the Memory Book so it can be put on a disc.
Bob Potter said that Bill Field and Judy Ream are organizing the golf game for Friday.
Bob will add an RSVP to the Web Site listing all the people (grads and guests) who have currently signed up for the dinner and or picnic, hopefully so others will see friends and decide to come as well.
Bob asked for more business cards for the Sponsor's page from Bob Mascarello and Terry Granger. It looks bleak. Bob and Terry will send a list of sponsors and door prize donators to Bob to add to the Web page.
A big round of applause was given to Dick Speer for scanning the Agrarian pictures for the web! Thanks Dick!
Sharon Crabb Richardson, Teachers' Committee, reported that she had the Jeffco Retired School Teachers' List. She has had a ball talking with Helen Knudtson who has been a wealth of info plus Larry McWilliams. So far Helen Knudtson, Larry McWilliams, and Russ Warneke are coming. There are others who are good possibilities. Karen Clark Hagaman will try and locate Bob Eckert who was at the 30th reunion. Mary Ann Lynen is here in Denver, but will be unable to attend for health reasons. Anyone on the committee is welcome to try and locate more of the teachers, but Sharon will continue her calling.
Sharon suggested a Teacher's Page on the Web site and Bob will add one. On it Bob will list those teachers located as well as a section "In Memory" for those who are deceased.
We agreed the extra cost to rent a "bus" to pick up those teachers who are unable to drive was necessary. We want them there. They will all be introduced before dinner so everyone can have a chance to visit with them. Those coming are really excited!
Bob Mascarello reported he would start hitting the pavement to locate sponsors.
Barb Evans Drake and Sharon Crabb Richardson will have nametags for the teachers as well as the grads and guests. In addition the tags will be numbered sequentially. The same numbers will be put in a fish bowl. Throughout the evening drawings will take place for door prizes. Both Barb and Sharon will begin working on the tags after Sharon gets back from Arizona as a Grandma and Barb back from a road trip through Canada and the Northwest. First things first, you know.
A table will be necessary at the Club for nametags as people enter.
Loyd Volgamore needs pictures. No one is willing to send current ones to him. Sharon Albee Dumont suggested we use pictures that we all traded back in high school. Karen McManus Brown even had some on hand to show what was being described. Everyone should bring any that they can find to the next meeting for Lloyd's "show".
We all agreed the old pictures would be just fine. Again, everyone on the team, bring in those pictures. As it says up above, send those pictures in!!
Jim Butler, Picnic committee, said that he would arrange for all the food. Bob M. will be getting the pop and water. The rules about the picnic location will be on Carol Meyers Walker's Memory Board at the dance. Bob M. mentioned something about horses at the park but I didn't hear all that. Jim will arrange for softball and volleyball. In addition, during the "eating" part of the picnic, the Trivia teams will be picked and the game will be played.
Jim asked that anyone with a Cabana to bring one because there is only room for about 88 under the covered area should it rain.
Karen Clark Hagaman, Sharon Albee Dumont, Carol Meyers Walker and Dick Speer are the Trivia team. Please, everyone on the committee, think of great medium hard questions and get to anyone on the Trivia Team Committee. They need music, cars, movie stars, TV, etc. stuff. Even school things.
The next meeting will be held on Sunday, June 10, at Jim and Judy's. We will start at 5:00 and have a potluck. It was decided what everyone would bring.
We currently have found 206 people from our class. If you know addresses or phone numbers of anyone, please check the attached list. If the person isn't on the list, contact Ted Grundmeier at the above e-mail or call 303 469-3958 with the facts. Thanks. It would be great to find everyone!!!
See you soon!
